We in association with ITDP & Shakti Foundation have spun out a Public Spaces project, which would start with creating strong Visualization or what we call “Could Be” visualizations. The proposed designs / layouts are based on the street design manual and takes into account multiple factors including the transit lines!

We are very happy to announce that CCC will be the local partner for Institute for Transportation and Development Policy (ITDP) in Chennai.

The Institute for Transportation and Development Policy (ITDP) is an international not-for-profit non-governmental-organization dedicated to the promotion of environmentally sustainable and equitable transportation policies and programs. It is regarded as one of the principal resource centers on this subject internationally. ITDP is involved with several public transport projects worldwide including the ones in Bogota (Colombia), Jakarta (Indonesia) and Guangzhou (China). In India, ITDP has provided technical support to several Indian cities interested in promoting public transit, non-motorized transport, and system integration since 2002. ITDP has also supported the Ministry of Urban Development through co-organizing training workshops for cities in India developing integrated public transport systems. ITDP funding to support such initiatives comes from international funding sources which include the Blue Moon Fund and the Climate Works Foundation. The aim of Blue Moon Fund and Climate Works Foundation is to reduce global warming through greenhouse gas reduction and to make cities livable.

In Chennai, ITDP will work with departments and agencies of the Govt of Tamil Nadu to improve public transportation – connectivity among various modes of transportation, help with pedestrianisation and cycle paths as part of the exisiting public transport system, integrated ticketing, parking policy and other related issues.

Drafts of Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) are being studied between ITDP and some key agencies. Once these are finalised, ITDP and CCC teams will start extensive data collection. This data and relevant surveys will help design more efficient and customer friendly public transportation system.
